According to the Drake equation, there should be intelligent life in every corner of the universe yet we are still left without at least some cool pictures of space guys to look at. This shows the Drake equation has some gaps that make life more unlikely… hence the idea of Great Filters. What exactly makes life rare? We do not know yet and it could be a combination of all or none of the above which is particularly terrifying.
